Gazing at the stars- a stammerers
perspective
My name is Steve Hill from Birmingham, in England. I have
always been
interested in all things to do
with space and the planets, often wandering if there is any
form of life out there. Over the last few years I have also
discovered a real benefit of having this particular interest,
it has actually helped me to eradicate depression!
I am a person who has suffered greatly with depression over
the years; I have however recently found a new way of dealing
with this problem. After discussing my issues with a doctor, it
was suggested that I needed to find new ways of relaxing
myself. This was certainly true; it was as if my mind was
constantly on speed, buzzing about from one idea to the
next.
The doctor asked if I had any hobbies and
was quite amazed when I mentioned astronomy; that is perfect he
responded. Why? Have you a telescope at home? He continued.
A telescope was something that I had always thought about
purchasing but had, for whatever reason, never actually got
round to it. The doctor explained that when I started feeling
down and depressed, that I could take myself to literally
another world by staring through the telescope at all of the
wonderful starts etc.
This may seem bizarre to you but I have to say that it works
wonders for me. I do of course also use the telescope when I am
not feeling depressed.
As for the question as to whether there are other people/aliens
living on other planets, I would have to say that there are, I
am still waiting to see it for myself however.
Steve Hill runs the How To Stop Stammering Centre. He has a
number of websites which describe how he managed to overcome a
stammer/stutter including:
