Munich-Based Aerospace
Companies
German cities of Stuttgart and Munich both are homes to
aerospace facilities,
if the former is home
to the research and academia; it is the Munich based aerospace
companies with their base in and around Munich city.
The Munich hotel I stay in is close to one of Europe’s
biggest aerospace company EADS, also the worlds premier
aerospace player also happens to be Munich based aerospace
company.
It is from here that EAD tests and develops products for
various purposes.
There are more than thirty Munich based aerospace companies
involved in developing parts for the Ariane rocket are located
all around Munich city.
It was the combined effort of MAN, MTU
and Kayser-Threde with their high-end technology made it
possible for the MarsExpress mission to take photographs of
water on mars for the very first time in history.
These Munich based aerospace companies also helped provide
the data that helped scientist study the rings surrounding
Saturn in greater depth than before.
Not far from Hotel
Munich is located the facilities of another of the Munich
based aerospace companies Galileo industries. It was
established in the Munich region to support iNav-Sat and Eurely
consortiums in ramping up the satellite-based navigation system
currently being built by these companies.
The system being built by Galileo Industries is made up of a
huge network of thirty satellites. They will be placed at 24000
kilometers above the earth’s surface where they will positioned
in three circular orbits.
Munich is not only home to aerospace companies, it also
boasts to be the home to Chair of Space Travel Technology at
the Technical University of Munich.
It was here that new standards were set on data transmission
on the BayernSat project, thus ensuring its huge success. The
German aerospace center (DLR) also is Munich based with its
network of eight institutions with more than one thousand
employees.
All this Munich based aerospace companies are ably supported
by the application center for satellite navigation and
Hotel München.
This organization makes sure that more and more aerospace
companies keep coming to Munich by supporting the relocation
and founding of companies involved in developing products and
services in satellite navigation.
These and a host of other Munich based aerospace companies
are playing a major role in realizing critical aerospace
missions.
From the window of my Munich hotel room I can see the airbus
taking flight, it was here in Munich that major systems going
into the airbus was developed and designed by a no of these
aerospace companies.
Munich based aerospace companies all together for a huge
consortium of critical knowledge mass needed for the growth of
the aerospace industry.
It is no wonder that Munich’s aerospace industry is not only
the biggest in Germany but holds the no one position amongst
all the European nations.
The epicentre of aerospace industry, Munich based aerospace
companies generate a revenues of a whopping EUR 6 billion, and
all together these companies employ the best of technical,
engineering ,computer and mathematical people numbering no less
than 26,500 people.
Truly Munich is the centre of the aerospace industry in
Europe.
